Day 5 - London, Glasgow and Timing

Day 5 - London, Glasgow and Timing #westhighlandway2024

Spent a bit in bed, Farah is not feeling the best which is unfortunate timing but hopefully it's a fleeting thing. Packed up and checked out of the room and left our bags there for a while as our flight isn't until 6 but it was already delayed 40 mins which is spooky

Having breakfast at Beam which has been really good so far, if a bit pricy but easily the coffee and breakfast food winner so far

Doing a walk around, went to the Holland Park and relaxing on a bench, the Kyoto Garden is nearby too

Walked through some of the Dutch Gardens which I'm sure are even nicer in spring but they were cute

Then the Kyoto Garden which was smaller than I thought and very much not comparable to the San Francisco Japanese gardens but on the other hand these were free so they have that going for them... Also probably much nice earlier in the season

After that headed for the hotel to pick up our bags and head out to Stansted Airport to catch our already 40 mins delayed flight

On the way, in case anyone needs some American food?

Grabbed some teas (which took like 15 mins as the sole worker seemed overwhelmed) from the place across the hotel as Farah relaxed a bit since the DayQuil equivalent had worn off and energy levels were a bit low. After that headed out to Liverpool Street station

Tube ride there was fine and the station is pretty but we were rushing as the train was leaving in two minutes once we got there so didn't get to explore. Farah tapped in ahead of me and as I was using the contactless payment gates I saw it said "don't tap in for the airport"

At that point my tap had gone through and she was getting on so I didn't really eat to read what to do. I bought a separate ticket online once on he train but feel like this is a bit of a scam as the train is not on a special platform and everywhere else it's tap to get on

Anywho arriving at the airport now will have to see if there's a way to contest the tap on without tap off to avoid a max fare penalty

Waiting at the gate, this airport is a bit crowded, feel like they try to keep it at a higher utilization rate than most so it feels somewhat claustrophobic

Plane time

Scotland time (bad news is Farah does seem to have a wee bit of a fever blobcatfearful)

Made it to the hotel! Hopefully tomorrow awakens as a slightly less sickly day!

Looks like we got the handicapped room, ironic that we went from the most claustrophobic shower of my life to the most open concept... It also doesn't have a rock for a bed... GAME CHANGER
