Started the day off waking up earlyish and waiting for others to wake up, had a smoothie for breakfast then we headed out to get some chocolate and random souvenirs. The chocolate shop was a bit pricy but cure
-
After the chocolate we grabbed some random souvenirs, then I grabbed some stuff at Ecco for my shoes since they'd gotten a bit dirty, lastly grabbed some absinthe since a friend is into it and made want to get some proper Swiss one.
-
Then we went back had a nice quiche with salad for lunch and did our good byes. Dad and his wife were excellent hosts and very thankful I got to finally spend time with my dad after COVID delayed the 2020 plan to visit, would have been a solo trip then though!

Will miss Geneva, it really does seem nice to love in, lots of hikes everywhere, great transit, great views, nice temperatures when not in a heatwave, but... Pricey and not technically EU. Either way next leg of the trip will be in Amman, Jordan.
-
As nice I'm sure everyone will be, looking forward to it a bit less, the social capital bank will run dry fast and it's a lot of family events one after the other, hopefully after brother-in-law's wedding in December we're done with this concentration of events... Hopefully...

At the gate now, hopefully this flight is on time as we don't have a ton of leeway at Frankfurt, think it's an hour layover and that airport is a bit of a mess I've heard... Though if somehow they strand us for a night AND give us a hotel AND don't lose our bags... Won't complain
-
On the plane, so far still on time, should be arriving in around 1h10m so we'll see if that holds.
-
Just landed in Frankfurt like 25 mins late or so, we had been on track to be like 5-10mins late but during our landing approach the plane suddenly zoomed up as if someone slammed the gas, seems like ground control told them to abort and try later due to a thunderstorm
-
Saw some real pretty clouds cause of it though
-
Now we have around 20 mins or so before boarding supposedly starts, I think we're still probably making that one but I'm worried about the checked luggage suffering a bit here
-
This probably helps with making the flight (unfortunately, overnight hotel stay dream is dead)
-
On a shuttle bus since we didn't land at a gate
-
This airport is large, made it to the C gates but had to do immigration control, EU passport buff let me get through fast but waiting for wife, still should be fine before we start boarding
-
Apparently the gate is a 15min walk??
-
Flight got delayed til 10 but we made it to be gate ok, now waiting
-
Just sat down, apparently emergency exit rows give you group 1 boarding on Lufthansa which is cool
-
However my bag status is... The airtag does show it in Frankfurt but wife's says loaded onto the flight and the airtag doesn't show them together though they do have different last updated times... Copium...
-
Very reassuring when the person doing announcements says "in order to leave before the airport closes please hurry up to your seats and properly store carryons and items" (paraphrased), but knowing my wife is not convinced her compatriots will necessarily heed that
-
Maybe the bag made it?
-
Plan is moving we in this
-
I meant plane but it looks like we'll take off soon, I'm hungry so i hope there's food soon after that
-
Not sure I'll have immediate signal there, depends on wifi but my sim card was only for Europe
-
Just landed, it's my turn to be in the pleb line for visas while she goes on ahead
-
Finally passed all passport controls and bought my visa, took a while, only two agents and big (unprepared) families. One of the people in front of me was getting GRILLED and only spoke spanish but she didn't have any docs ready so even after trying to help they disappeared her
-
I got the other of the two guards who'd been grilling people ahead of me but in Arabic and he literally didn't ask me anything. My theory was that he didn't speak good English and didn't want to deal, but maybe it's the pre-arrival online form having the details he cared about
-
We got our bags, or rather wife got them while I was in line as it probably took me an extra 20 mins... at least in Europe her lines were fast. My bag was the first to come out which may mean it was the last to go in? It sort of tracks with our sleuthing on it.
-
In a taxi to her parents house here now after we got SIMs. I felt bad for flight attendants during the flight as they'd been on a lot of delays due to Frankfurt weather and passengers were not being the most cooperative with rule following but...
-
Anywho sleepy as it's 4:40am and while I got some sleep on the plane it wasn't a ton.
-
Just arriving now, soon blessed sleep hopefully
-
Somehow remembered I don't think i mentioned how scary driving back from Lenk on mountain roads was, narrow lanes and no barriers...
