Day 13 - Tokyo

Day 13 - Tokyo #Japan2019

I'm here at the Hiroshima station to go Tokyo bound though I'm making a put stop in Kyoto to grab snacks and lunch, however I clearly should have planned this leg because reserved seats were taken up to like 11am, which hadn't happened yet so I'm in the pleb free seat line hoping

Moment of Truth in like 4 mins, gonna be a mad dash to grab a seat unless it comes into the station empty

The line for another door, stretches behind the pic, I'm second in mine

I think the person behind me didn't even get a seat, but there's a lot of people standing, I didn't even know you could do that, I barely got one though had to put some luggage in front of me so it's not the comfiest

We're reaching Fukuyama, real curious if anyone with luggage will need to exit due to the packed aisles with suitcases, though I assume there won't be major getting on or off until closer to Osaka

Today's been pretty light on updates but I'm almost at Tokyo, think like an hour left though I'm dreading the subway ride to the hotel (near Shinjuku) since I can't imagine it'll be too empty at 5pm-ish

Let's see after getting to Kyoto I struggled to find an empty locker during various fruitless rounds until I found one but then I had no coins or 1000 yen bills to break in the machine so I had to keep searching

I got lucky and as I walked an older couple was removing theirs from one of the IC card (transit pass with money) compatible machines so I was able to use that, we talked briefly after I'd asked them if they were done and they were surprised and chatted a bit

Then I hunted down some Kyoto specialties for snacks that I'd been asked for and then looked for somewhere to eat, everything had aine so j settled for some beef katsu place that seems decent enough and it wasz just a basic lunch set

Then back on the train toward Tokyo where I napped a bit, finished my daily Japanese flashcard (which I've kept up with and have an almost 1 year streak on 😤😤) and now I wait, really thirsty too but drank the liquids I bought for the ride

There's like a cool break in the clouds, like something slashed them through which Mt Fuji is visible

Ok on the local train to Shinjuku, it's not as packed (yet) as I'd feared

Been a bit quiet because I have a slight headache after Kyoto, not sure what it was but hotel is nice

I feel like it's a general rule that at stations and malls the first floor or two are almost exclusively dedicated to women's clothing and accessories, I never see stuff for guys unless I go up a few floors

As I walked aimlessly for good and nothing seemed appealing...

That was amazing and hit the spot, it also felt much closer to a German doner than I've ever had in NA, i might have to go back another day for more, they're so cheap too

While I regret not just getting 2 I now realize the reason nothing looked good was because I wanted something different, so I'll get a small Korean dish

It has corn tea! 😍

Had some straightforward tteokbokki and am satisfied
