Good morning, so far Airbnb has been nice, AC works, hot water works, and that's all I really needed as of now

Went to breakfast at her family's place and it was quite tasty, very good falafel and breads, had a chill time in their garden, so far so good, talked a bunch and now going to go sort my SIM situation+castle? while she sorts some things for the event before we go pick up my dad

After breakfast while she went to go discuss some things about the event i went to the Amman Citadel ruins with my mom, a mixture of some Roman and some Umayyad architectural ruins with pretty neat views of the city (including the original Philadelphia!)

Spent a while there including the archaeological museum which was cool in the sense that the region has been inhabited since the paleolithic and had some of the earliest civilizations so it spans a huge date range.

The other part was we did get a lot of panoramic views of the city which was cool and let you see that there's basically a monopoly on which stone is used to make buildings, very uniform coloring

Also wonder if this photo sphere thing will work well on

  8. #

    🤷‍♂️

Cool pillars and now on way back to Airbnb to get picked up to pick up dad, bonus cat in ruins

One thing i noticed is that while it's hot out (like 33 C) it's much much more bearable than it would be in Toronto with humidity, the downside is I've had my phone get too hot to use all the camera features a couple of times probably due to the sun strength

Also I forgot to post this before but I felt bad about looking at the stone and thinking the writing looked so silly and then I read the story...

At the airport waiting to pick up my dad, then dinner somewhere

  13. #

Chilling at the airport, looks like dad got hit by the same infinite waiting on bags thing

  14. #

I guess it was worse, their bags didn't arrive at all, which is mighty unfortunate, allegedly they should arrive tomorrow but it sucks, made it back to the Airbnb and then going to get some FOOD

  15. #

At the restaurant, also like coke is any soft drink in some places, so is Pepsi here

  16. #

    Wow!

I kind of crashed before I posted the food when i got home so let's hook: tabbouleh, a watermelon and cheese salad and labneh balls with fresh bread (they served us before I could take my pics, how dare they...)

Beef galayet bandora (I think?) a basic tomato dish with onions that had a really simple but great tomato flavor, shish barak - lamb dumplings in yogurt sauce, fried halloumi cheese

  19. #

Musakhan - sumac chicken in flatbread, lamb kofta in tahini sauce, some kind of lamb that was cooked to be very tender

The food was quite tasty, I missed a pic of the hummus too which was great, more of a tahini flavor than I'm used to in a good way. Overall the standouts to me were the dumplings, the watermelon salad, the tomato dish and the sumac chicken 🤤🤤

Of course this update is now coming from 4:30am wake up gang, thanks internal clock. Next day's (today's?) plan is to chill downtown with fiancee's baby sister (she's like 18 soon and starting to U of T this year) as a guide until a nice family + family dinner in the evening
