As promised I'll start updating the thread yesterday with what we did at Wadi Rum while we're on the way back, at the moment we're just on the long drive north with camels and border walls (not pictured)
-
This does mean that if you're real time reading the timelines will be messed up as each thread will be for a different day but for the future it'll keep things easier to read by using the index threads
-
Anywho, this morning was basically waking up, having a so so breakfast buffet (though pita + labaneh - yogurt + zaatar + olive oil is a great breakfast), then grabbing our stuff and getting a pickup truck ride back to the van where we're now on the way back t
-
Oh might as well add some bubble pics in the morning lighting before retroactively going over yesterday
-
Oh yeah, as a sidenote the van was waiting in this huuge lot outside the off-road-y sand-y access road to the camp and it looked extremely lonely

Detour back to today's thread, just dropped dad off at the Dead sea hotel, now back to Amman. I hadn't really known how badly the sea was shrinking but apparently it's like a meter a year and it's almost halved in size since 1930 or how under sea level it was (430m)
-
Yes it's a long ride and wiki exists.

Just got back to the Airbnb, now i shower (after the hot water heater heats it since it was off while we were away), then food then meeting her family's matriarch, the grandmother
-
Ordered some food with Talabat which is their Uber Eats, I guess, I'm hungry
-
Not too bad, though it suffered the taco bell problem in that while we got a lot of different sandwiches they all tasted the same with different form factors
-
The plan to meet the grandmother was postponed so getting picked up soon to go for drinks with her cousin and fiancee who also are getting officially engaged (their event being the day after ours), should be heading out in 15ish? Also took a much needed nap
-
Went out and met a bunch of her cousins from her mom's side and some of their friends, was a decent little pub though this was the first time that we really got blasted by what she'd warned me about: everyone smokes. That part was not great.
-
Of the people I talked to I had the most fun talking to one of the cousins who lives in Geneva and just had a "cool" vibe and one of the other engaged couple's friends who lives in London (and wanted out!) both of whom similarly feel a bit disconnected from their parent's culture
-
After that went home and crashed after drinking some water cause one of the people there who definitely had money was buying shots for everyone constantly, even though I didn't even feel tipsy by the end which was a bit odd
