Got a taxi early in case they didn't show to have to enough time to book it to the train station but the taxi did show so now have like 40 mins. It's supposed to be quite a scenic route back to Edinburgh and will partially retrace our hike
-
Very pretty view in the dawn light while we waited for the taxi though
-
Hard to accept going now because it means he final leg, we have a half day today there and a full day tomorrow... Then bright and an early to the airport on Saturday.
-
At least Air Canada pilots didn't go on strike as most people had feared, hope they got a good deal but it makes things much less stressful... Then back to the real world
-
Train time! @ milla
-
They said it's one of the more picturesque rides down to Glasgow and I'm inclined to agree, finished a book and caught some very nice views along the way including some of the Rannoch Moors we hiked through
-
Even got to see the Bonnie Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond one last time...
-
Then some other Loch which was pretty but not Lomond
-
Finally arrived in Glasgow before transferring to the Edinburgh train
-
Today we're doing some tour? thing? in the Edinburgh Dungeon and at night a Scottish storytelling thing that seems borderline too new-age but will at least be unique and not something we'd be able to do elsewhere
-
Made it to Edinburgh
-
Oh that didn't post until late, have been here a while now, the city also has an older style vibe but quite distinct from the Glasgow city center also has a giant memorial of some sort
-
Left our bags at the hotel, had a bite at Mowgli which is Indian Street food, was really good, recommend it
-
By then sun had come out, really just hard to believe it's a city people live in and it's not just a big set
-
Did the Dungeon thing which is sort of like a haunted house type experience, seeing people get spooked was the best part
-
Then checked in to the smallest room yet (but at least the bed is good, if small)
-
Farah stayed and I went exploring a little through the nearby art museum and streets
-
One of the more modern exhibits lets you buy prints but it's kind of depressing that even here they offer installment billing
-
Angel shooting the LGBT beam
-
We saw some of these in Glasgow too!
-
Some more I particularly liked
-
Then some walking around
-
And some more before we grabbed a quick bite then headed to the show
-
Honestly really really enjoyed it considering it was a totally random find in a small room that happened to line up with our visit.

"Welcome to an eclectic night of ancient myth, contemporary storytelling, post-folk music, and physical artistry. Steeped in the traditions of Scottish storytelling, we evoke the warm atmosphere of peat-smoked hearthsides and ceilidh house revelry, presenting timeless motifs"
-
"Join host Dougie Mackay as he invites a different selection of Scotland’s finest storytellers, songwriters, musicians, and performing artists to each bi-monthly Hearth Fire Session to create an innovative showcase of Scotland’s contemporary culture."
-
"For September's session, Dougie is joined by magician/comedian Chris Cook, Scots folksinger, songmaker and storyteller Kirsty Law and poet, illustrator, writer and spoken word artist Iona Lee."
-
Based on the trailer I thought it might be a little tooo artsy for me but the guests he had on were perfect and a unique experience (even if the singer was very hard to understand as she sang in a very Scottish accent at times)
Big recommend if you visit
-
Some night shots before bed time to check-in to our flight tomorrow morning... No...
