Grey and drizzly day to send us off (no drizzle in the forecast btw), planning on doing the castle, the cathedral, ice cream and then tbd but first I'll finish with a full Scottish breakfast again

Another full Scottish, this haggis was much better than the one at Bridge of Orchy

Meandered to St Giles Cathedral after, another banger... The church just does have a great aesthetic regardless of anything else. Also it's 900 years old which is older and been in continuous use throughout which is wild

Also I know it's a serious dialect/cousin of English but Scots really does look ridiculous to modern eyes

Then it was castle time, tbh I will just blast out pics as there's not too much to say other than it being on a hilltop smack downtown being really cool visually

Some vies of the city from the castle

    More pics

A couple of mini museums inside, and I don't think it's just me but it's odd how queer coded a lot of the old recruitment posters look now, bonus painting showing the Highlander regiment still wearing kilts

  10. #

Then some ice cream with a view

  11. #

Then the National Museum of Scotland (and some city shots, just really like they way random streets look). The museum is huge huge huge inside

Spent basically he whole time only on the Scottish history portion which is very extensive but touching on a point I mentioned in the Washington trip, I don't really agree with their curation style as it feels to open ended for me. I like some guidance as to where to go next.

Here displays were mostly clustered around themes but there wasn't good direction on where to go next or what order to best read things in. Made me feel like I was missing stuff constantly

And in something like the older history section going from Roman to Viking to Bronze age was jarring when jumping between themes. Also I mostly took shots of the building design and layout because it really resonated with me even if their ordering didn't. Missed so much in it too

More things seen while walking to dinner, it's just picturesque...

Final dinner, another winner. It was a vegetarian restaurant and the meals were really good, easily among the top of the entire trip

Then hotel to pack and get ready... 5am wake up to leave at 9am and arrive in Toronto by 11am... Until next time.
